Citizenship Classes
Citizenship Classes– La Hermandad Hank Lacayo Youth & Family Center has proudly served thousands of legal permanent residents (LPR) to become naturalized U.S Citizens. Our class program consists of basic and advanced levels at the bilingual atmosphere (English and Spanish). The student is placed on the necessary level by the instructor’s discretion. The classes cover topics such as U.S History, Government, Civics, and a mock interview. We offer flexible schedules and additional resources.
English as a Second Language
English as a Second Language – not only educationally advantageous but also economically beneficial to our community’s’ futures. By building capacity, adult students are able to help their children with their schoolwork and seek better-paying jobs. Located in Oxnard, this region is heavily impacted by migrant farm workers. Education promotes additive bilingualism and biculturalism (Lambert, 1980) since students are adding to their linguistic repertoire and sense of identity through the experience of being educated in a foreign language and computers.
Literacy and Adult Education Program
Literacy and Adult Education Program- This free program offers the opportunity to complete Elementary and Middle School Education in addition to learning how to read and write in Spanish. This program is valid in the United States and other countries. Such program is necessary and beneficial to our community because it helps promote basic education opportunities in order to incorporate them in our society.
Computer Classes
Computer Classes – Classes designed to help seniors understand the latest advances in technology for those who work a little or nothing at all. Instructor will work with you at your pace. You can bring your gadgets (Laptops, Tablets, or cameras) or use our computers.
