ABOUT LA HERMANDAD

Hank Lacayo Youth and Family Center

Our Mission

La Hermandad’s mission is to address the legal, social, educational, and economical inequities facing immigrants, their families, our youth, and the senior population. La Hermandad emphasizes citizenship organizing, civic engagement and community development activities aimed at building grassroots power in order to strengthen this community’s voice.Since opening our doors, we have been at the forefront advocating for social justice through a just and comprehensive immigration reform. With the generous support of local agencies, we have organized and mobilized our working-class community with local education forums and marches in Ventura and Los Angles Counties and actively participated in lobbying our Congressional Representatives.

Core Values

We are actively involved with other coalitions organizing public forums to bring consciousness about the importance of a comprehensive immigration reform. La Hermandad has been sought by the School District for support and to join their efforts in securing the necessary amendments to acquire property for the construction of an elementary school and support them in its local lobbying efforts. It is the goal of La Hermandad to conduct public education and outreach campaign to raise awareness about senior domestic violence and abuse.

Our Vision

La Hermandad strives to build a thriving community defined by justice, equality, diversity, and economic prosperity.
